SUSAN BETTS - Artist, Teacher, Entrepreneur
For many years Susan worked as a contemporary artist and designer for the Aboriginal design company Balarinji during which time she designed Qantas’ iconic Boeing 747 jet (named Nalanji Dreaming) as well as producing the design “Sweet Water” for Coca Cola’s 2m Coke bottle statue (currently viewed at their Museum in Atlanta, USA and other work(s) for the Sydney Olympic Committee. Susan also freelances as Artist/Designer to several Government departments and companies with her other designs (Including some local Government logos) being available for sale / view both in Australia and abroad. For the talented and prolific Susan Betts, “spare time” is at a premium but she has nonetheless included many workshops in dozens of schools (public & private) teaching indigenous and non-indigenous students about her complex and fascinating culture, past and present. The opportunity to share the diversities and values of her culture is greatly enjoyed by Susan. Recently Susan was commissioned by Schefenacker to design five commemorative side mirrors for FORD USA and she is Assistant Administrative Officer with Tandanya, The National Aboriginal Cultural Institute (NACI) in Adelaide, South Australia. For her inaugural watch range, these beautiful and inspired designs, come gift-packed, and accompanied by a lovely bookmark telling some of Susan’s Story and those of her paintings.
